Second Chance is the final known unreleased recording featuring jazz vocal legend Irene Kral and the Alan Broadbent Trio, recorded live in Studio City, California in 1975.
Features three songs never recorded by Irene Kral in her long and successful career- "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes", "Second Chance", and "This Masquerade" and two first ever small group versions of "Sometime Ago" and "Something To Remember You By".
Featuring:
Irene Kral, vocals
Alan Broadbent, piano
Peter Marshall, bass
Frank Severino, drums
This collection comes from the apex in her development: summer 1975. Despite health struggles, Kral had reached her artistic summit. Her assets-a clear alto voice, perfect intonation, graceful phrasing, subdued drama, sure-footed rhythm, and an ever-expanding book of great material--had crystallized. She had the ideal musical mate, one who shared her devotion to the best possible manifestation of the music. Taken together with Just For Now (Jazzed Media 1003)--taped three months earlier--Second Chance shows Kral at work in top form.
If you missed this extraordinary artist when she moved among us, consider this album your second chance.
